SoCalVal seen at SmackDown tapings!

BXyQUaPIgAA-7lR.jpg largePaige Nicole Mayo (born March 27, 1986) is an American professional wrestling valet, interviewer/ring announcer, and ringside attendant better known by her ring name SoCal Val (AKA Valerie Elizabeth Wyndham). She is best known for her work in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

In August 2006, SoCal Val officially signed with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). On August 18, SoCal Val got kicked out by the Women’s Extreme Wrestling promotion at their PPV taping event Twisted Steel and Sex Appeal. On the December 14, 2006 episode of Impact!, Kurt Angle dragged her in the ring and threatened to break her ankle until Jim Cornette talked him into letting her go. On the March 8, 2007 episode of Impact!, SoCal Val got injured after receiving the Black Hole Slam from Abyss.

In 2008, Val entered into an on-screen relationship with Jay Lethal with signs of Sonjay Dutt also showing affection for Val. Lethal lost his X Division championship to Petey Williams after a Canadian Destroyer on the April 17 episode of Impact!. As part of the storyline, at Slammiversary, Val was scheduled to marry Lethal, but their wedding was ruined when Sonjay Dutt claimed he should marry Val and attacked Lethal. At No Surrender, Val turned into a villainess by giving Lethal a low blow, allowing Dutt to get the victory. In the following weeks, Val’s actions were explained by transitioning her character into a gold digger, claiming that Dutt’s father was the richest man in India. In 2009, Dutt was released thus ending the storyline.

She returned to her previous role as a ring girl on the April 2, 2009 edition of Impact!. She began working as a backstage interviewer beginning on the Sacrifice pre-show. On the October 8, 2009 edition of Impact!, Val was briefly assaulted by Awesome Kong, who had come to the ring during Tara’s match against ODB with a sledgehammer that she intended to use to kill Tara’s pet tarantula, Poison. Although Kong made Val position Poison on the floor outside the ring for her to smash with her sledgehammer, Tara was able to attack Kong and stop her from inflicting any damage.

In June 2010, Val began working as the ring announcer on Xplosion.

On August 22, 2013, Mayo announced she had parted ways with TNA.

George’s 2nd Interview

How old were you when you saw your first match?

I was 8 years old and it was 1979, the match was Ander the giant Vs. Hulk Hogan at the Shea Stadium. ( Yes they did wrestle before wrestlemania 3 )

If you could say one thing to Dixie Carter for the way her employees treated you what would it be?

If I was Dixie, I’ll find out who was responsible for what happened and have them fired.

If they keep doing this to other fans, eventually they wont have any fans.

To Dixie’s Credit, I did get a response from her in that regards and she wasn’t aware of what happened and they are looking into it.

What do you think could improve TNA as a business?

They need big names like Hulk Hogan and more exposure.

If there was one wrestler Hogan could train who would you like to see him train.

This will upset a lot of people but I think he should train John Cena.

What do you think Hulk Hogan’s next step should be?
I would love to see Hogan run his own Televised wrestling program.

In regards to Hogan’s beach shop visit,  no icon has been known to go out of his way and meet a fan especially when it wasn’t a wrestling event.

When he arrived to the shop, he made me feel so welcome, it was overwhelming.

The shop itself is amazing, every Hulkamania collectible is there on display, I felt like a kid in a candy shop.

His such a good family man, that he inspired me to comeback next year and bring my family to meet him.

To any fans out there, if you want the hulkamania experience , you need to visit the shop.

I will have to give credit when credit is due. For Dixie to respond to George is great. Means she still some what cares. Great to hear that Dixie responded.

Marketing Ideas for Impact Wrestling

I have been a wrestling fan for many many years. Not only that but I have been in business for over 10. Owned my first business at the age 0f 18 that was going strong for over 5 years. I have owned a few businesses since then. I know a little bit about business and marketing. Not to mention I love it.

I look at TNA as a struggling small business. It had a good amount of money thrown at it and still struggling to go up the hill of success. I have even tried to get in touch with Dixie Carter to try and help and nothing really came from it. Below I am going to provide some ideas I think would help TNA. Bully Ray said in a recent interview that one of the reasons he thinks that crowds are not coming like they should is because the product the brand isn’t being marketed it like it should.

1. I see the wrestlers will come to the ring in the merchandise that TNA is selling but more could be done.
Have 15 sec Promo talking about what is on sale. Give a Promo Code LIVE on the the air. The same can be done for Pay per view tickets. Have the wrestlers 1 time each week post a link to their merchandise on their social media account.

2. Promote promote promote. One month before your show market like never before, In big ways and small ways. Check in the cities and see what other events are happening. Try to do a local cross promotion. TNA should want the faces of all the wrestlers all over that location.

Example; Have a bus that has TNA’s logo on it and the wrestlers show up at the schools for FREE. Give out flyers and have a wrestler show up as well. This should be done at ALL of the pay per views and maybe some of the LIVE events.

3. TNA needs is to have more people in the seats. From what I have read a lot tickets have been free. I understand that to a point but TNA needs to make money everywhere possible with out looking desperate. The ideas above would help that.

4. Cross promotion that matters. A few months ago they had commercials with Matt Morgan in Direct Auto adverts. Ok but he wasn’t the main star. In wrestling they have always had someone be the face of the company. Do not get me wrong I think Matt Morgan did a great job but there needed to be more. Maybe a different wrestler in another commercial. Something different and noticeable. Instead of dark matches at the start of the show with people that may or may not be some one. Have a wrestler maybe a mid card wrestler come out to his music come out and cut  promo and throw out some shirts. To random people in the crowd. It sets the mood for the fans get them hyped with a feeling of NICE i got something for Free and a rush of the music and a great promo cut that does its job.

5. NEVER EVER pay your employees late. The employees keeps the business going. Look at it this way.  The business is a house and a house can not stand with out a foundation. The employees are the foundation. Words gets out. Wrestlers with 200k followers on twitter make a comment about it former or current employees and you creditably as a company is damaged.

Now I know the wrestling business is different than a retail store or something like that but the basics of business should still apply. The people want good wrestlers, good promos, a good company and great story lines that make sense. When the customers get what they want they will be willing to spend money.  I know it is a complex business but with the right marketing ideas and people working together TNA might have a chances to climb that hill of success.

Ideas for Imapact Wrestling

I have been a wrestling fan for years, along with my business experience I feel I have ideas that would help TNA.

Giving Bubba the title back was a good idea, when I watch TNA there is really only 3 wrestlers that stick out to me now. Bobby Rhode, Bubba, and AJ styles. AJ mainly because he plays that character really well.

Robbie E needs to have his character changed. It’s old and a waste of TV time.
Aces and 8s are not acting like ruthless bikers like I think they should. It seems like they are more pretending than anything, I know wrestling is fake but it shouldn’t seem like that on the camera and the microphone.
Instead of letting Brooke go TNA should have had Hulk fire her for her on safety, or her leave because she couldn’t be around Bubba anymore. That would leave her with an open door to come back maybe a story of  Bubba was seeing her behind Hulks back kind of thing and Brooke turns on her father. Fans would have loved that,
One thing that is hard to have done in wrestling is come up with something new. Through out the years it all has been done. Expect recently MMA fighters are going to TNA.
What they should do is have King Mo, Tito and Rampage team up and just beat the hell out of the wrestlers, bring that story more blood and pain and the fans wouldn’t now how to react because it has not been done with MMA fighters.
These are just a few ideas I have that would push TNA to the top of the rating chart. Like I said just a few. I know Dixie wont read this or even message me back, but the sad part is it would help her company. I truly think it would.

WWE scared of TNA

WWE has contacted a number of arenas to secure dates and will likely be using some of their non-compete clauses to prevent TNA from running those arenas with the new Impact Wrestling tapings schedule. WWE has booked a number of mid-size arenas including the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia, the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, and the First Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. WWE will be running those buildings in their markets instead of the major arenas they usually run in.

HUGE NEWS for TNA

Dixie Carter said that she would have a “major announcement” on this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling.

The announcement will be that TNA will be taking Impact Wrestling on the road in 2013 according to F4Wonline. It’s unknown whether TNA will be giving up the Impact Zone or if they will still hold occasional Impact tapings there, however when TNA airs a live episode of Impact, they will tape the following week’s show the next night.

York Gone?

@christianyork’s profile has been removed from TNA’s website with Kid Cash’s. If TNA releases York this would be a step back for Impact Wrestling. Let’s hope TNA had done this and and it’s just a mistake on the website.
